Is Covid-19 gone?

Most people are back at school and in the shopping centres once again. Countries are opening borders. So this just begs the question. Is Covid-19 gone? And if not, why are we so relaxed?

In Wales cases in schools have gone up by 44% than in the last 3 weeks. 10,551 people have school related Covid-19. Swansea and Neath Port Talbot account for nearly 1/5 of the cases. Therefore children in schools in this area have been told to were masks again.

In the UK it was reported by Sky news that 204,000 pupils were out of school for Covid reasons. This is a dramatic 67% rise from a 2 weeks ago. Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi said the government won’t “stand back and let attendance fall” as education is “simply too important”. There is a threat that pupils might have to were masks again according to the Education Secretary. However, as we have seen in Wales they have already crossed that bridge as we have discussed.

Just, on Wednesday the 6th of October the Guardian quoted Professor Sarah Gilbert (Creator of Oxford Vaccine) ‘Covid is still running rampant’. Scientists also warm that the UK might not be over the worst yet, Case numbers have risen from an average of 3,000 a week in mid may to at least 20,000 a week.

On the other side of the globe in America. As early as on the 22nd of September America had a spike only 200 cases away from April 2020. According to a DW article cases have risen in 58 different countries.

However all this negativity doesn’t show the full story. Even if cases are starting to rise again, we know how to combat it. We have learned more about the Virus in Itself. We are all familiar with Lockdown and we are familiar with the rules. Who knows maybe you’ll like it in isolation!
