A new Cycling Race Calendar from the UCI

Like all other sports, cycling has been stopped by the Corona virus. The road cycling season usually runs from January to October. The calendar of cycle races is set by the UCI. This is the cycling equivalent of FIFA for football. The last race to happen before COVID-19 disrupted everything was a race in France called Paris-Nice. That stopped on the 14th March and since then there have been no world cycle races. Right now in May 2020 The tour of Italy, otherwise known as the Giro d’Italia should be happening. This is one of the 3 ‘Grand Tours’ of cycling. They others are La Vuelta, which is the tour of Spain, and Le Tour de France, which is arguably the most famous cycle race in the World. Le tour de France was due to happen through July, but it has been re-scheduled.

At the beginning of May, the UCI announced a new cycling race calendar. It is trying to move all the races that have been postponed by COVID-19 to a new date sometime between 1st August and the 9th November.
