What has made BTS so famous + Big Hit Entertainment’s history

From http://www.nme.com

Before I get into anything about BTS, we need to talk about Big Hit and How it started.

In 2005 Big Hit Entertainment was founded by Bang Si-hyuk a promising Producer for another current ‘Big Three’ Company called JYP. They signed a Vocal trio called 8Eight in 2007.

In 2010 Big Hit announced they would have a collaboration with JYP to joint manage a male-ballad group called 2AM, which were quite successful.

In that year they signed Kim Namjoon or back then known as ‘Rap Monster’, an underground rapper who was slowly starting to get some attention which was followed by other members in the next few years which I will come back to.

In 2012 the company signed Lim Jeong-hee and they also got another Collaboration with Source Music to form a Girl Group called GLAM. In 2013, In 2013 BTS debuted with ‘No more dream’.

Back to GLAM, GLAM were active until 2014 but then a controversy happened. The Famous Blackmail controversy happened when a member of the Group Kim Da-hee after trying to Blackmail actor Lee Byung-hun, she received a suspended sentence which saw added charges because of trying to flee the police and the actual country! This also saw the End of the Promising Girl-group GLAM. They had the potential to be one of the best groups but it was gone, just like that.

At the end of 2AM’s contract in April of 2014 three 2AM members returned back to JYP except Lee Chang-min who wanted to pursue a Solo career stayed at Big Hit while being part of the duo Homme. This Year also saw the ending of 8Eight after two of the members contracts ended with the Company.

In the year of 2015 Big Hit gave BTS a very famous song called Dope. This song propelled BTS into stardom it helped them to get recognised. More Importantly however, it saved them from Bankruptcy.

Because in May of 2015 Signal Entertainment acquired Big Hit for 6 Billion Korean Won which is 4,576,315.81. In 2016 BTS had the Song ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’ which gave them an entrance into the Western Market.

In February of 2018 Former 2AM member Lee Changmin’s contract came to an end. However the other member of the Group Lee Hyun continued as a Solo Artist under the rapidly rising Label.

In the Same year BTS agreed a new 7-year deal with Big Hit Entertainment. In the March of 2019 Former CBO (Chief Business Officer) of Big Hit, Yoon Seok-Jun was made co-CEO of the a massive company.

Now Big Hit have made a new Survival show which made ENHYPEN. Before 2019 Big Hit only had BTS then they Debuted TXT a boy-group which got a lot of fans from the start as being the new generation of Big Hit and also being the ‘brothers’ to BTS.

Ever since GLAM, they have never debuted a Girl Group this is known as one of Big Hit’s biggest every Mishaps. They have collaborated with Source Music again holding Global Auditions to make a new Girl Group.

They are now knocking on the wall of the biggest 3 entertainment companies in Korea YG, JYP and SM.

If you are wondering why they are collaborating with Source Music so much. It is because they actually acquired them. There was rumours they acquired Pledis Entertainment, another massive entertainment company, but they are just Shareholder’s in their stock.

Anyway, I have not actually not answered the purpose of why you are all here. The reason BTS are World-wide superstars is because of great managmement and also because of the Songs and issues BTS deal with which strikes some cords with the listeners.
