Coronavirus: Its Impact On Sport

Introduction

On the 9 march Loads of English football fans were in despair, English football was cancelled for an indefinite amount of time.

Football Teams and Their Situations

Before the cancellation of English football Liverpool were riding high. Liverpool were 25 points above second, Manchester City, and on route to win their first premier league title in 40 years.

Leicester City was having one of their best seasons ever even though their recent form has been terrible not winning in the premier league since 22 January.

Manchester City’s Ban

On the 18 February Manchester City were banned from the champions league for two years for disobeying financial fair play. This allows one more team to qualify for the champions league so Wolves, Manchester United, Sheffield United and Tottenham were fighting for fifth place. It was a very tight few matches as Tottenham seemed to have a run of form before the cancellation of English football.

Who in the Premier League has The Coronavirus?

Chelsea’s youngster Calum Hudson-Odoi had got the Coronavirus. According to the BBC the 19 year old has now made a full recovery from the coronavirus.

Mikel Arteta – Arsenal’s Manager – had got the Coronavirus. According to the BBC the 38 year old Spaniard has made a full recovery from this virus
